Syringa Headband

They say that necessity is the mother of invention. This was true of this design.

My hair is more than just curly. It is thick, frizzy, unruly. I haven’t had a haircut for almost a year, let alone since the lockdown began. All of these things added to the fact that I have a baby with small baby hands ready to clench into fists the moment something touches them, like tiny venus fly traps, meant that I needed something quick! Whilst I still had hair to protect, I needed to protect it.

Usually, it would have been easy. Pop to the shops, grab a cheap hairband, job done. Not in March 2020. Suddenly all but the essential shop were open, and even if I could find a headband, was it worth the risk of catching the disease that had rampaged through the whole planet, leaving destruction in its wake? No.

Instead, I looked at what I had, and what I had was yarn and needles. So, the syringa Headband was born out of necessity, and my hair and scalp thank me for it!
